When it comes to replacing your mainstream beauty products with natural & organic beauty products, perhaps you’re thinking that you’ll have to sacrifice quality for safety. Maybe you think of natural cosmetics as being boring and unglamorous. Well, I can categorically tell you that this is not the case. You don’t have to choose between quality and safety. In fact, the natural & organic beauty products I use on a daily basis are actually much better quality than my old mainstream, toxic products. And they’re also anything but boring or unglamorous! I’m going to share some of my favourite products and brands with you now.
I’ll be honest though. This was quite a difficult post for me to write. I didn’t know where to begin because there are just so many amazing natural & organic beauty products and brands that I love and want to share with you. So I’ve decided the easiest way to do this without overwhelming you (and myself) was to break it up into categories.
I mentioned in last weeks post that when making the switch to natural and organic cosmetics, one of the easiest product types to transition to is body products. So that’s where I’m going to begin today. Are you ready to hear about some amazing products that are not only free of harmful ingredients and animal testing but that are also gorgeous and pretty amazing for your skin (and health) too? Yes! Then let’s begin.
Disclaimer: Some of these products contain affiliate links which means I may receive a small commission if you decide to purchase them. But this will have no extra cost to you. As you know, I only ever recommend products and brands that I absolutely love and use myself in both my professional and personal makeup kits. So that’s how I know how amazing they are and why I’m so excited to share them with you so you’ll get the same amazing results from using them too.
SOAP & HANDWASH
These are probably the products you’re using the most on a daily basis. And the problem with mainstream soaps and handwashes is that they contain the ingredients Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate. These are also known as SLS’s or SLES’s. They’re foaming agents used to create a lather in products. However, they’re also extremely harsh on the skin and are one of the main causes of skin irritations.
Not only that, they’re extremely drying on the skin. Do you ever notice how dry your hands are after washing them? SLS’s are a huge contributing factor to that. If you’d like to find out what other ingredients to avoid in your cosmetics, make sure to download my free natural & organic beauty guide where I’ve given you a list of some of the toxic ingredients to avoid in cosmetics.
I want my soaps to contain natural and organic ingredients that are good for my skin. But I also want them to smell nice and to look, well, a little bit fancy. It’s always nice going to a place that has ‘fancy soap’. Or am I the only one who thinks like that? 😉 For everyday use, I really like the liquid soaps by Alverde. I particularly like the Bio Orange & Olive liquid soap, which smells amazing.
However, as I mentioned, I really love a ‘fancy’ soap. And this beautiful Sicilian Orange Hand & Body Wash by Ecosoapia is just that. I love how it smells, it’s organic ingredients, that it’s a vegan product. And I love how fancy it looks! There’s also 2 more in the series. I haven’t tried them yet but I’m sure I will at some point. Absolutely gorgeous and also very budget-friendly too.
If you prefer a solid bar type of soap, try these gorgeous handmade soaps by Potentia. There are 2 to choose from. If you’re a fan of lavender, you’ll love their lovely natural lavender soap. Or maybe try their natural rose & geranium soap instead. If you’re a fan of argan oil, try this gorgeous hydrating and softening argan oil soap by Alassala.
In addition to soaps and hand washes, hand creams were one of the very first natural and organic beauty products I ever used. Here are a few of my absolute favourites that I continue to use on a daily basis.
This has been a staple in my handbag for many years. And at only Eur 2.99, it’s definitely a bargain buy. However, just because the price is so low, it doesn’t mean this product lacks in quality. I’ve used hand creams that are ten times more expensive (and that contain ingredients that aren’t good for my health) that aren’t anywhere as nearly as good as this one. It keeps my hands well moisturised with absolutely no greasy or oily residue either. To be honest, I think I’ve tried every single one of the hand creams from Lavera. And I’ve never been disappointed with any of them. So I can highly recommend these. No matter which one you choose, they’re all vegan-friendly too.
This is a lovely German brand who produce vegan-friendly natural & organic beauty products. They’ve been around for a few years, but I’ve only recently started using them. And I’ve been very impressed so far. All their products are free from parabens, silicones and synthetic aromas. They’re also vegan-friendly too. I’ve been using their hand cream a lot of late and it’s doing a great job of keeping my hands very hydrated. Even though this hand cream is quite hydrating, it doesn’t leave a greasy residue on my hands. It’s quite budget friendly too. So good for your hands and your wallet.
I think this is one of my favourite type of natural and organic beauty products that I use. And I have plenty of gorgeous recommendations for you in this category.
This body wash is available in several different gorgeous aromas. But my favourite is the revitalising organic orange and sea buckthorn. It smells divine and feels so good to use on my skin. It doesn’t dry it out at all, as it contains no SLS’s. This product is suitable for vegans.
There are a couple to choose from in the range, but my favourite is the uplifting shower gel. It really does make me feel refreshed and uplifted as it contains the scents of orange oil (are you seeing a pattern here 😉 ) as well as organic mandarin oil and Sicilian lemon. It smells so gorgeous. This product is also suitable for vegans.
If you’re looking to really treat yourself and don’t mind spending a little more for even more luxury, then you can’t go wrong with this next body wash. It’s just under Eur 20 but worth every single cent.
This beautiful brand is definitely in my top 3 favourite organic beauty brands. Their products are absolutely amazing. If you’ve got sensitive skin, I highly recommend checking out Pai. I’ll go into further detail on this in a future post because this beautiful brand deserves a post all to themselves.
In the meantime, let’s talk about this gorgeous body wash. It’s from their Petit Pai collection which was created for babies and kids. But it’s suitable to use for the entire family. So if you’re a Mum and you want to use only the safest, best quality products on your kids and yourself, then look no further than this brand.
This body wash smells gorgeous and you only need to use a tiny amount each time. So it will last a really long time. This is also another organic beauty product that’s suitable for vegans. It’s also available in a trial size if you’d prefer to try it before spending money on the full-size product.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you’ll know how big a fan I am of body scrubs. These are perfect to use if you want to have glowing, hydrated skin all year round.
I’ve mentioned how much I love these body scrubs in the past. And I’m happy to say it again. These are hands down the best body scrubs I’ve ever used! There are 2 scrubs in the range, the Morning Mojito Body Scrub and the Gin & Skin Tonic Body Scrub. I absolutely love both. But if I really have to choose one favourite, I’ll choose the Morning Mojito Body Scrub, simply because Mojito is my favourite cocktail! 🙂 These are packed full of skin loving, nourishing ingredients such as organic sweet almond oil and essential oils of lime and peppermint. They smell amazing and leave my skin looking glowing and hydrated. I highly recommend.
Just as you’d apply a moisturiser on your face to keep your skin hydrated after cleansing, it’s important to do the same for your body. So always follow up with body lotion or oil after using a body wash or scrub. these gorgeous body products are some of my favourites
This is the perfect partner to my beloved Lavera body wash. It has the exact same beautifully refreshing orange aroma as the body wash. And I just love how the lotion hydrates my skin so well yet soaks into my skin in seconds. One of my favourites. Again, it’s vegan-friendly.
I’ve recently started using it and I fell in love with it pretty much straight away. So I just had to include it on my list. For one thing, it smells sooo amazing. And it’s doing a great job of keeping my dry skin hydrated and soft. It soaks into my skin in about 2 seconds, which is a big plus for me so I can get dressed straight away after using it. The ingredients are 100% natural, 11% of which are of organic origin. It’s also suitable for vegans.
If you’re looking for a truly luxurious treat for your body, you can’t get much better than this gorgeous body lotion by the fabulous Lola’s Apothecary. It contains mandarin peel oil which gives it a beautifully refreshing smell. It also contains rosehip fruit oil which helps to nourish and hydrate the skin. Again, this is a great product to use if you have very dry or dehydrated skin. I especially love how it’s called a ‘body soufflé’. And if I’m being honest, that kind of sold me on buying this beautiful product in the first place! This is a vegan-friendly product.
Take Your Time
Once you begin to learn more about this topic, it can be very tempting to want to transition from mainstream beauty products to organic beauty products overnight. However, this can be very overwhelming and not so easy on your wallet!
If you’re unsure where to begin, my beginners guide to natural and organic beauty is a great place to start. Then begin by excluding the 3 ingredients I mentioned in the guide and you’re already on your way to a cleaner, healthier more environmentally friendly beauty routine. Once you’ve done that, you can then begin to make the transition to natural and organic cosmetics by replacing 1 product at a time. Taking even these small steps really will make a big difference.
So go easy on your skin (and your bank balance) and enjoy the process of going green.
Your Perfect-For-You Natural & Organic Beauty Products
It’s hard for me to know your exact perfect-for-you products without first meeting you in person. However, the products I mentioned in this post are a great place to get started in making the transition to cleaner beauty products. They’re some of the first natural & organic beauty products that I used almost a decade ago. And I still use them to this day and it’s why I absolutely love to recommend them.
